Tree Service & Stump Grinding in Mount Zion, IL

Located 50 minutes east of Springfield via I-72 and Route 121, Mount Zion is an upscale village southeast of Decatur bordering the pristine old-growth forest of Spitler Woods State Natural Area. Neighborhoods feature custom residential homes surrounded by preserved stands of virgin white oaks, red oaks, sugar maples, and shagbark hickories. Our arborist service provides licensed tree felling, preservative canopy trimming, and deep stump grinding throughout Mount Zion.

The mature woodland setting of Mount Zion presents distinct arboricultural demands. Many residential yards incorporate centuries-old timber that has suffered root disturbance from home construction, utility trenching, and soil compaction. Furthermore, heavy clay loam soils hold substantial water during spring rains, which can induce root rot and destabilize tall hardwoods during severe summer wind events.

Dismantling massive hardwoods on Mount Zion's manicured properties requires meticulous care. Our climbers employ advanced rigging systems to secure and lower heavy branch sections piece by piece, avoiding delicate landscaping, custom hardscapes, and irrigation systems. Our self-propelled commercial stump grinder maneuvers through yard gates to mill root flares ten to twelve inches deep.

Crown preservation pruning is crucial to extending the lifespan of Mount Zion's specimen oak trees. We specialize in crown deadwooding, selective thinning, and removing hazardous limbs with poor attachments before severe weather strikes. Every cut is made in accordance with ANSI A300 standards to promote proper bark healing.

Traveling east via I-72 and Route 121, our crew arrives in Mount Zion in about fifty minutes. We verify utility safety through JULIE 811 prior to stump grinding. We lay heavy ground protection mats across sod to prevent tire marks, chip all branches on-site, and clean up thoroughly.
